Su nombre verdadero es Teresa Premanes Corona. A los 11 años ingresó al coro del grupo mexicano de los Hermanos Zavala donde debutó con la obra Contigo pan y cebolla. Posteriormente estudió teatro en la academia Andrés Soler y luego viajó a Los Ángeles para estudiar canto con Seth Riggs. Sus inicios se dieron en el terreno del teatro, actuando en obras de diversos géneros, desde tragedias griegas hasta comedias musicales. De entre otras obras en las que actuó destacan El soldadito de plomo, Pastoral navideño, Ifigenia en Áulide (de Eurípides), Gypsy y El diluvio que viene.

 En 1978, el productor Ernesto Alonso decide darle una oportunidad estelar en la telenovela Ardiente secreto. A partir de ese momento reconduce su carrera hacia la televisión, con telenovelas como El enemigo, No temas al amor, El camino secreto, Balada por un amor, Si Dios me quita la vida, El manantial,(Ganadora con el Premio Tv y Novelas por "Primera actriz") Las vías del amor(Ganadora de Premios Heraldo como "Primera actriz") y Alborada (la hizo merecedora de un premio TV y Novelas (como «mejor villana del año»),  las cuales hoy en día son clásicos y son un éxito continuo en más de 160 países, al grado que en Italia, España, Estados Unidos y los Países Arabes, entre otros, la han convertido en un ídolo.

Como intérprete, Daniela grabó su primer disco en 1979 con canciones de Lolita de la Colina bajo el sello CBS, sin obtener éxito.

En 1983 firmó con Hispavox un contrato para grabar su disco Daniela Romo homónimo, del cual también grabó un maxisingle en idioma italiano, con los temas Buggíe (Mentiras) y Dammi, dammi, dammi (La ocasión para amarnos).

 Su vasta discografía inicia en 1983, con el álbum titulado  "Daniela Romo", del
que se desprendieron éxitos, que hoy continúan como clásicos. A este le seguirían
grandes producciones como lo son  "Amor Prohibido", "Dueña de mi Corazón" ,
"Gitana","La Cita", "Daniela Roma en Vivo", etc. Todo un crisol  musical de ritmos,
géneros y arreglos, avalados por su  impecable calidad vocal.

  En enero de 1999 y con motivo de la hoy, histórica visita del Papa Peregrino,
Juan Pablo II a México, Daniela Romo le brindo una oración musical del sentir
de todos los  mexicanos. "Juan Pablo Esperanza"  (Amigo del Alma), de la inspiración
de Fernando Riba y Kiko Campos,  llevando en los arreglos y en la dirección a
Bebu Silvetti.

Sin embargo, Daniela Romo posee mil facetas, pues así  como Logró convertir
ese tema en un himno de hermandad también grabo, el que constituye en su
carrera,  el disco  número trece! "Me vuelves loca", un álbum pleno de fantasía y
romance, en el que Daniela imprime su  huella personalísima, aportando su genio
autoral en uno de los temas,  haciendo una química singular al lado  de Bebu Silvetti,
su inefable y aclamado productor.
"Me vuelves loca", que es el tema que da titula al disco, es un dueto tan inusitado
como espectacular: Daniela y Joan Manuel Serrat. Además de toda un  recorrido
por las vivencias musicales de Perales, Manzanero, etc.

 Su éxito más recordado fue un tema del Festival de San Remo 1984, de Albertelli y Malepasso: Yo no te pido la luna dentro del disco Amor prohibido (de 1984).

En 1985 participó en el Festival Mundial de la Canción Popular (en Tokio (Japón) representando a México con una canción de Denisse de Kalafe: Es nuestro amor, con la cual llega a la final. En 15 años como cantante ha grabado más de 12 discos.

A nivel mundial ha vendido más de 15 millones de discos. Su trayectoria como cantante la llevó a realizar giras internacionales.

  Daniela Romo  es una mujer de  su tiempo  y  toda una figura,  sin embargo,  
en la intimidad,  el centro de su atención es,   sin lugar a dudas,  su familia.  
Su mama, su hermana Paty y sus sobrinos Daniela y Patricio. El escaso tiempo
libre que le permite su siempre  saturada agenda de trabajo,  lo dedica a otra
de sus pasiones:  la lectura, novela,  literatura clásica,  poesía,  en fin todo  lo
que tenga  sentido y  contenido, porque en ella  convergen tanto la  sensibilidad
y la  cultura, como el enaltecimiento espiritual. Frágil y fuerte, roca y agua, día
y noche.

  Esa misma chispa, que la ha hecho destacar como bailarina, cantante, actriz,
conductora y entrevistadora, fue palpable en varios programas televisivos, entre
ellos "Noche a Noche", hasta llegar a "Hoy con Daniela".

Coma actriz,  Daniela Roma  ha Logrado  un sitio  insuperable,  ya que su
capacidad histriónica le ha permitida dar vida a memorables personajes.

Vanguardista,  visionaria  y  ante todo  genuina,  Daniela Romo ha tenido la
fuerza para realizar sus sueños. Entre ellos participar en cine.
Su más reciente película "El Batallón de San Patricio" fue filmada en escenarios
naturales tanto de Durango como de Morelos.   Este rodaje estuvo a cargo de  
Lance y Conrad Hoal,  Ilevando en los roles estelares a  Tom Berenger,  
Joaquín D'Almeida  y en el estelar  femenino Daniela Romo . Esta cinta fue
distribuida por MGM y dio la vuelta al mundo durante todo el  año de 1999.

  La exitosa antesala de la que hay es la apoteasis del resurgimiento del teatro de revista en México: sus presentaciones en eI  Teatro Blanquita.  Ahí, fueron verdaderos
sucesos del espectáculo las puestas en escena  de:   "De mil colores",
"Quiero amanecer con alguien"  y "Amada mas que nunca"  
(en su primera etapa, ya que después  estuvo en el Teatro de los Insurgentes). Todas ellas superaron el record de audiencia y desde luego de taquilla. 
Inquieta por naturaleza, se avocó también a rescatar un género que estaba por desaparecer: la revista musical... y el Teatro Blanquita fue el escenario ideal para que DANIELA ROMO lograra un triunfo más en su carrera con tres espectáculos: QUIERO
AMANECER CON ALGUIEN, AMADA MAS QUE NUNCA, DE MIL COLORES, con los que
rompió todos los records de taquilla durante 1990, 1991 y 1993, situación que se
repitió en el Teatro Insurgentes y Alameda (1993 y 1997).  

 Se presento con gran éxito en el Teatro de los  Insurgentes, con la obra  de AIdo Nicolai  "La Libélula", (iniciando en el mes de Julio de 1999, y finalizando  en el mes de Febrero del 2000) alternando con dos grandes actores como son los señores
Héctor Suárez y Carlos Bracho, cumpliendo más de 100 representaciones.
A finales del año 2000 y principios del 2001,  condujo  el Programa de Concurso
"A MILLON", en la Ciudad de Miami, Florida.
En el mes de Mayo ha sido nombrada MENSAJERA DE  LA ONU-MEXICO, para
el Programa  2001  contra la DISCRIMINACION Y PRO-LOS DERECHOS
HUMANOS.

  Por todo lo anterior, decir Daniela Romo es remitirnos a una trayectoria plena de Discos de Oro, de Platino, así coma aplausos, reconocimientos, avances, lucha,
evocación, modernidad y nostalgia. Exitos entrelazados con detalle a filigrana y tan enormes como Ia inmensidad  del incansable  mar. Triunfos absolutos de una gran
artista, de una excepcional mujer e indiscutiblemente    ¡ de toda una dama !


A principios del 2005, salió a la venta el material discográfico titulado “ES LANOSTALGIA”.

ENGLISH VERSION

Daniela Romo was born Teresita Presmanes Corona in Mexico City to Teresa Corona. Her parents never married, and Daniela and her sister Patricia were raised by their grandmother. As a child she idiolized Rocío Dúrcal, whom she credits for inspiring her to become an actress and a recording artist.

She started out young singing back up to Los Hermanos Zavala before venturing out on stage in shows such as Gypsy. Romo eventually ventured out into film and television where she would gain recognition making her film debut in La Casa Del Pelicano at the age of 17. Her first starring role on a television soap opera (or telenovela) was in 1978 in El Ardiente Secreto, an adaptation of Pride & Prejudice.

During her TV era, she would go on talk shows or variety shows of the time and sing. During this time, Chucho Ferrer, a popular producer at the time, saw the potential in Romo and offered to produce a record. An ambitious 20 year old Romo took on this adventure and recorded her debut record Tambien yó (also released as Te Pareces tanto a mi in 1979) released by Discos Disa. All of these songs were written by Singer-songwriter Lolita De La Colina. The album largely flopped due to the kind of material Romo was singing (mature balladry) and the public wasn't ready to take on this from such a young singer. Romo went on to do more film and TV, again garnering a hit on television with her soap Dejame Vivir in 1982.

In 1983, she traveled to Spain and met Danilo Vaona through her good friend (and supposed boyfriend) Miguel Bosè. Danilo was famous at the time as an up and coming young Italian producer behind Raffaella Carrà among others. She recorded Daniela Romo under a new label, Hispavox/EMI. Her first single "Mentiras" caused a stir in Spain as during this time she was hosting a late night talk show in that country.

Her EMI debut album was a smash producing her #1 hit singles "Mentiras", "Celos" (written by Jose Luis Perales, "Pobre Secretaria" (written by Miguel Bosè), "La Ocasion Para Amarnos" and the ballad "Corazón", which served as the theme to the telenovela Un Sólo Corazón.

Romo's musical career soon devoured all of her time and for the next 4 years, she would dedicate all her attention to it. In 1984 she released her 3rd album Amor Prohibido which garnered her biggest International hit "Yo No Te Pido La Luna". The song was a smash all over Latin America and Spain, where the song was originally released in Italian by Fiordaliso titled "Non voglio mica la luna". She followed this record with Dueña de mi corazon, which would be her last Danilo Vaona produced record for 11 years.

1986 was a big year for Daniela Romo. This marked her return to television with arguably her best role to date in a telenovela with El Camino Secreto. The theme song to the telenovela was sung by Daniela Romo and was written by Juan Gabriel titled "De mi enamorate". This song proved to be Romo's biggest hit in Mexico, spending 21 weeks in the #1 position. It also achieved similar status in the USA with the new Billboard Hot Latin Tracks where it spent 5 weeks in the top spot.

Her record Mujer De Todos, Mujer De Nadie was released this year containing her smash. It was produced by Difelissatti/J.R. Flores, the midas touch hit men of Mexican 1980s pop. This would be her only record produced by this dinamic duo but it produced some of her biggest hits such as the gay anthemic "Coco Loco", the ballad "Adelante Corazón", "Veneno Para Dos" and the title track.

Romo's musical career took a turn in 1989 when she released Quiero Amanecer Con Alguien produced by Bebu Silvetti. The record was a musical change, adapting to balladry and simpler arrangements, more in the vein of Adult Contemporary pop music. This was a risky moved but it paid off as this record was a huge hit on an international scale. She would keep recording and in 1993, she signed a new record contract with Melody/Fonovisa where she would release 3 albums over the next 4 years.

After six years away from television, Romo made her return to the small screen in the 1995 hit "Si Dios me quita la vida" alongside Cesar Evora and Omar Fierro. The telenovela was followed by the variety show Hoy Con Daniela in 1996. The show was largely panned by critics and was cancelled after two seasons due to poor ratings. In 2001 she won her first roles as a villain in El Manantial, and was then seen in the light hearted comedy Las Vias Del Amor a year later.

The album Ave Fenix released in 2001 was produced by Loris Ceroni and was largely inspired by Cher's comeback effort Believe, adopting her smooth vocals with dance beats. It was largely ignored because Romo would go on to do telenovelas instead of promoting it.

In 2005, Romo released Es la nostalgia, a collection of acoustic ballads produced by Adrian Posse and that same year, she garnered much praise for her role as the evil Doña Juana in the timeperiod soap Alborada.

In 2006 Romo produced the musical Cabaret in Mexico and is currently set to star in Victor Victoria on stage.
